Yapese Carvers at Ethnic Art Institute of Micronesia
        Established on Yap in 1994, the Ethnic Art Institute of Micronesia is dedicated to the revitalization of the traditional cultures of Micronesia through the restoration and recreation of indigenous arts, crafts and customs. At left is a completed Tapwaanu "chasing away the spirit" Idol after a drawing made by Augustin Krämer which was published in an anthropological volume on the Outer Islands of Truk (now called Chuuk) in Ergebnisse der Südsee-Expedition 1908-1910.
